Changes to the Criminal Records Act effective as of June 12, 2026
With effect from 12 June 2026, an amendment to the Criminal Records Act will come into force, introducing several new types of extracts and transcripts. These changes will allow for a more differentiated assessment of integrity depending on the specific purpose, including consideration of selected expunged convictions.
Effective June 12, 2026, new types of public documents will be introduced into the Criminal Records Act pursuant to Section 11 of the Criminal Records Act.
According to Section 11(1) of the Criminal Records Act, public documents are used to prove whether a person has been or has not been lawfully convicted. Originally, these documents consisted only of an extract from the criminal record and a copy of the criminal record. Under the new provisions, the list of public documents will also include an extract from the criminal record for work with children and youth, a specialized extract from the criminal record, an extract from the criminal record for security screening purposes, and a copy of the criminal record for selected professions and civil proceedings.
