Equal Pay Bill: Slovakia has begun transposing the Directive on transparent remuneration
Back in the summer of 2025, we focused on the new European directive on transparency of remuneration. Slovakia has since prepared a draft law aimed at strengthening the principle of equal pay for women and men.
In the summer of 2025, we focused our attention on the new Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) 2023/970, which strengthens the application of the principle of equal pay for men and women for equal work or work of equal value through pay transparency and enforcement mechanisms (hereinafter referred to as "the Directive"). Although the transposition period for the Directive does not expire until 2026, several Member States have already begun preparing national regulations.
The Slovak Republic is no exception. The Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic has prepared a draft law on equal pay for men and women for equal work or work of equal value and on amendments to certain laws (hereinafter referred to as the "draft law"), the main objective of which is to transpose the Directive into the legal order of the Slovak Republic.
