New rules for cryptocurrency taxation: DAC8 comes into effect
From January 1, 2026, DAC8 will come into force in Slovakia, fundamentally changing the taxation of cryptocurrencies. Crypto service providers will become mandatory partners of tax authorities. The aim of the new rules is to increase transparency, reduce tax evasion, and prepare the market for a unified information exchange system within the EU.
